Everyday life of Elbląg residents in 1945-1949", a part of which is a VR application - "Post-war photographer's atelier". On that day, you can also use other virtual reality applications created for the Regional Digitisation Workshop - " Explore the Middle Ages" and "Slopes on the Elbląg Canal".
"To Tame the City" is a multimedia exhibition that deals with the first post-war years in our city. In the multimedia room, which is located on the second floor of the Światowid European Meetings Centre in Elbląg, old photographs, digital animations of post-war memorabilia, old posters and announcements and film recordings of testimonies of the first post-war settlers are presented.
- It is an exhibition that is explored via an app - by completing a series of tasks, solving puzzles and answering questions, you can join the ranks of post-war Elbląg residents and receive a registration card as a reward, the organisers say. - It is also possible to visit the exhibition without the help of a smartphone by viewing and reading the content on it.
A virtual reality room is also an integral part of the exhibition. Using VR goggles, it is possible to visit one of the first photographic factories in post-war Elbląg and help a photographer take photographs in the factory.
In addition, in the VR room, you can use two other applications that were developed during the projects of the Regional Digitisation Workshop - you will be able to move into the engine room of the Elbląg Canal or a medieval village. In the "Slipways on the Elbląg Canal" app, you can take a virtual walk through all five slipways of the Elbląg Canal, and play the role of an engine driver or signalman who manages to guide a ship safely through the slipways of the Canal.
In the "Explore the Middle Ages" application, the user can shoot a bow and crossbow in a virtual medieval settlement, decorate clay pots on a potter's wheel, and view dozens of medieval artefacts digitised from regional museums.
The multimedia exhibition can be visited every Wednesday between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m., at which time the VR application can also be used. Admission is free.
