Screenings at the Światowid Cinema

We would like to present to you the offer of Światowid Cinema from 12 May. We invite you and look forward to meeting you in front of the big screen!

"Close to Vermeer".

A unique project that has been created in the form of a documentary to introduce the silhouette of the great creator of European painting and also sheds light on his work from a completely different, previously unknown side. "Close to Vermeer" at Światowid Cinema from 12 May.

Filmed with a true detective passion, the film allows you to discover the master anew. As promised in the title, "Close to the Master" takes famous works of art off the walls, removes them from their frames and takes them into the laboratory to show us in close-up the stunning details - for example, the "Girl with a Pearl" - and reveal the layers hidden under the paint. "Close to Vermeer" is the story of an artist who left behind more enigmas than works, the complicated fate of paintings scattered around the world's greatest museums, but above all an attempt to understand what makes Vermeer Vermeer.

A 78-minute documentary that focuses on the preparation of a major exhibition of Vermeer's work. "Close to Vermeer" from 12 May at Światowid Cinema.

"Tonia"

A moving story about the unique relationship between father and daughter. The story of a resolute girl who will do anything to be with her dad. "Tonia" at Światowid Cinema from 12 May.

Tonia lives with her father and grandmother. Her mother is dead, and her father abuses alcohol and has lost his job. Her grandmother decides to send him to work on a construction site in Italy for three months. Tonia doesn't want to let her dad leave. So the inventive, brilliant and resourceful teenager prepares a plan to prevent him from doing so.

A positive story about difficult issues. "Tonia" at Światowid Cinema from 12 May.

"Lynx"

A unique documentary created by Laurent Geslin. For years he observed lynxes in their natural habitat which resulted in this wonderful film. "Lynx" at Światowid Cinema from 12 May.

In the heart of the Jura mountain range stretching across the Swiss-French border, the forest tranquillity is suddenly interrupted by peculiar, repetitive sounds. The magnificent silhouette of a Eurasian lynx paves its way between beech and fir trees, calling loudly in search of the chosen one with whom it will mate during mating season. So begins a beautiful adventure, full of amusing but dramatic twists and turns, with a family of lynxes at its centre. Its life is defined by the changing seasons, but also by the increasing human interference in the wild cat's environment. We will learn the habits of these unusual, discreet animals, witness how they teach their cubs' hunting techniques, and also find out what dangers lurk for them. Following in the footsteps of the documentary's protagonists, we will discover a world that is within reach, but at the same time remains completely unknown.

A beautiful picture of exceptional creatures. "Lynx" at Światowid Cinema from Friday 12 May.

"Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia"

An animated film about two friends who go on an adventurous journey. A story about important things in everyone's life aimed at the youngest viewers. "Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia" at Światowid Cinema from 12 May.

Ernest the bear and Celestine the little mouse travel to the native land of the kind-hearted bear to repair a broken violin. This exotic land is also home to some of the world's best musicians, and its air is constantly saturated with joy-giving sounds. However, when the two friends arrive, they find that the playing of any music was banned here many years ago. Only one note is allowed. This is all thanks to the fancy law-making judges, led by Ernest's father. For the bear and his mouse friend, this is unimaginable, as they both love all sounds. Together with the friends they meet and a mysterious masked figure, they will try to bring music and happiness back to the land of the bears.
