Światowid Cinema in Elbląg invites you to another screening in the series 100 Years of Warner Bros. This time "The Maltese Falcon" will be presented, featuring Humphrey Bogart in his first leading role. Screening on Tuesday, 9 May at 6 p.m. Tickets are priced at PLN 18/16 or a pass for the entire series at PLN 210 (15 films for PLN 14).
A group of suspicious individuals will stop at nothing to get their hands on a precious treasure - a jewelled falcon statuette. Detective Sam Spade wants to find out at all costs why they are so desperate to get it - and who is behind the murder of his partner.
A cast full of stars (including Sydney Greenstreet, Mary Astor, Peter Lorre and Elisha Cook Jr.) accompanies Bogart in this excellent, timeless detective story, which straight from the pages of Dashiell Hummett's novel has been brought to the screen by director John Huston. Nominated for three Academy Awards ® (1941) - Best Picture, Supporting Actor (Greenstreet), Screenplay (Huston) - the film elevated Bogart to the acting firmament and opened the door to a career as a director for Huston.
