This coming Saturday, 29 April, the eighth broadcast of New York's The Metropolitan Opera will take place. This time Światowid Cinema invites you to see "Champion", directed by James Robinson. The premiere will begin at 6:55 p.m.
Six-time Grammy Award-winning composer Terence Blanchard returns to the Met after last year's success of his debut opera Fire Shut Up in my Bones. Bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green plays young boxer Emile Griffith as he climbs the ranks of his sporting career, while bass-baritone Eric Owens will appear on stage as an older version of the character, haunted by events from his past. The two singers will be partnered by soprano Latonia Moore as Emelda Griffith, in the role of Griffith's mother, feuding with her son, and mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe as bar owner Kathy Hagan.
