100 years of Warner Bros. "Gone with the Wind" at Światowid Cinema

A film series celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Warner Bros. label will start at the Światowid Cinema in Elbląg on 18 April. The first film to be screened as part of the series will be "Gone with the Wind", a screen adaptation of Margaret Mitchell's novel. Screening on Tuesday, 18 April at 6 p.m. Tickets are priced at PLN 18/16 or a pass for the entire series at PLN 210 (15 films for PLN 14).

Scarlett O'Hara is a carefree and beautiful girl who is surrounded by bachelors. Her pleasant and wealthy life is interrupted by the war. At the same time, she learns that Ashley - the man she has secretly been in love with - is marrying Melania, a woman O'Hara hates. Scarlett, wanting to spite the man, accepts the first man's proposal, who dies very quickly. As a widow, she is deprived of all fun and pleasure. At this point, a handsome adventurer - Rhett Butler - appears in Scarlett's life.

In 1939, David O. Selznick's Academy Award-winning masterpiece dazzled audiences and defined what a Hollywood blockbuster should be: bold filmmaking, full of momentum, passion, drama and a timeless romance. The film garnered 14 Oscar nominations and as many as nine statuettes: including Best Picture, for acting roles for Vivien Leigh and Hattie McDaniel (the first African-American woman), direction, screenplay, production design, editing, cinematography and creative use of colour tape.
