Centrum Spotkań Europejskich "Światowid" in Elbląg invites you to the vernissage of Barbara Olechnowicz's photographs entitled "Chiny w sercu i obiektywie" (China in the heart and through the lens). The exhibition will mainly feature photographs of China - the author's favourite motif. Admission free. You are kindly invited!

- I have dreamt of travelling far away, seeing the world and meeting people for a long time. In my youth, in different political constellations, this was completely impossible. I began to travel as a mature person. Enchanted by the beauty of the world around me and, above all, its diversity, I wanted to immortalise it for the long term. That's when I started taking pictures. And although I got my first camera when I was eight years old and won another one in a school competition a few years later, real photography started more than twenty years ago. I travelled extensively in China and Asia, and photography slowly became my favourite pastime. The transience and beauty of the world I was still discovering shaped in me the impulse to capture it. To hold on to images that are easily forgotten. Then, naturally, I wanted to show these "moments frozen in a frame" to others. I thought this would be a good way to save them from oblivion. The photographs in this exhibition represent only a tiny fraction of the photographs I have taken, which I estimate at tens of thousands. They are all the sum of my passions and interests - says Barbara Olechnowicz.

The exhibition will be open until 31 March 2023 during the opening hours of the CSE 'Światowid' in Elbląg.
