Wystawa Rafała Szulca w Światowidzie

Centrum Spotkań Europejskich „Światowid” in Elbląg invites you on 18 January (Wednesday) at 6 p.m. to the opening of the exhibition entitled „Kiedy pamięć w kawałkach błądzi i szuka całości” ("When memory wanders in pieces and seeks wholeness"). It will be an exhibition of Rafał Szulc, an artist from Iława, who will present his world of sculpture. Entry free. Come and join us!

The artist about himself:
"I was born in the village of Pikus, where I live and create. I feel strongly

connected to this place, from which I draw most of my inspiration. I believe that the truth is always closest to us.

My main inspiration and the impulse which pushed me to artistic activities are the works of Zdzisław Beksiński. The world, or perhaps not the world, that he depicts

in his paintings, has captured me.

I find the elements of which my works are made in my closest

environment. I create my works using mainly traditional blacksmithing techniques.

I use parts of machinery and devices that have been forgotten and abandoned.

I believe that they carry a story worth telling again."

The artist regularly collaborates with local cultural centres. In 2022, he created a statue of a triathlete that stood in Susz. He has participated in open-air sculpture workshops and group exhibitions. He co-created the 'Floating Sculptures' project. It was a happening that consisted of a film, live music and a show of sculptures floating on a lake. He is the author of more than a dozen solo exhibitions. Also in 2022, he was awarded 'Talent of the Year' by the Stowarzyszenie Pro Kultura i Sztuka (Pro Culture and Art Association) in Olsztyn. He took first place in the Review of Common Art of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, organised by the Centrum Edukacji i Inicjatyw Kulturalnych in Olsztyn, under the patronage of the Marshal of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.
